It started with a heavy pack and a pair of boots.
Long before Kerinci Paradise became a standard, it was just Jet Herwanto a local son of Kerinci. He started at the bottom: as a porter carrying the weight of others. Then as a guide leading the way.
But after 300+ summits, Jetz noticed a gap. He saw hikers merely “surviving” the climb, not enjoying it. He saw makeshift logistics when there could be precision. He saw a mountain that deserved better.
In 2015, the mission shifted. Jetz knew it was time to create a new atmosphere in Kerinci. It wasn’t just about reaching the top anymore; it was about rewriting how the top is reached.
Today, the spirit of “Jetz Hikers” lives on, but it has evolved. It is no longer a one-man show. It is a system.
We took the raw instinct of a local guide and fused it with high-altitude management standards. Every tent pitched, every meal served, and every safety protocol followed is a direct result of decades on the field. We don’t just guess; we know.
The strength of Kerinci Paradise lies not only in systems and standards, but in the people who live them every day.
Every guide, cook, and porter in our team carries the same commitment safety, precision, and genuine care for every guest.
Our guides are more than mountain leaders.
They are educators, protectors, and storytellers who bring the mountain’s wisdom to life.
Each has been trained directly under the Kerinci Paradise Standard, a process led and supervised by Jetz Herwanto (Jetz Hikers) Founder, Operational Director, and Chairman of APGI Jambi.
