Long before Kerinci Paradise raised the standard for private adventure operations in this region, Jetz Herwanto (known on the trail as Jetz Hikers) grew up in the Kerinci valley with the volcano as part of daily life.
In 2013, while completing a diploma III in Information Technology and Computer Management, Jetz took his first professional step on Mount Kerinci in its most physically demanding role: working as a mountain porter. Carrying loads up the steep volcanic ridges built a deep, firsthand understanding of the trek, the microclimates, and the physical endurance required on the mountain.
By 2014, that direct guide experience on the trail led Jetz to work as a freelance guide. Operating on the volcano every week made one thing clear: international and domestic hikers were arriving with high ambitions, yet operations in this region ran without structure, consistency, or precision. At the same time, the local porters and crew working on the mountain lacked the welfare and professional respect their effort deserved.
To create a new atmosphere in this region, Jetz founded Kerinci Paradise in 2015. The goal was to redefine the approach to trekking and adventure across Kerinci by fusing living local expertise with an organized, end to end operational system, while raising the standard of livelihood for every crew member on the trail.
With over 300 summit ascents led personally and hundreds of company trips completed since 2015, Jetz stands among the most accomplished mountain leaders in Sumatra. Holding credentials as a certified Expert Level Mountain Guide under the Indonesian Mountain Guides Association (APGI), a certified travel consultant, and a licensed paragliding pilot, he supervises the safety and operational precision of every Kerinci Paradise program.
