About Kerinci Paradise founder Jetz Hikers on the summit of Mount Kerinci

Everything about Kerinci Paradise began directly on the slopes of Mount Kerinci. Born and raised in the Kerinci valley, founder Jetz Herwanto (known on the trail as Jetz Hikers) started on the volcano in 2013 as a porter before becoming a freelance guide in 2014.

Spending every week on the mountain made one thing clear. Hikers were arriving from around the world to scale the highest volcano in Southeast Asia, yet trekking in this region ran the same old way year after year. Before Kerinci Paradise, no one had stepped forward to make a real change or establish a higher standard, and the experience on the volcano remained far below what the mountain and the people visiting it deserved.

In 2015, Jetz founded Kerinci Paradise to create a new atmosphere in this region. The goal was to redefine the approach to trekking and adventure by turning direct mountain experience into an organized, end to end system where every detail is prepared with precision.

With over 300 summit ascents led personally by Jetz and hundreds of trips completed since 2015, Kerinci Paradise operates as a registered private adventure operator where every stage of the schedule moves in calm, steady motion from arrival in Padang to departure.
